42 Wallaby Way Sydney

Unfortunately.. the dentist office from Finding Nemo isn’t an actual place. But I can say I definitely tried to find it. The other part of my Bond break was spent traveling around Sydney.

I had the chance to walk around the opera house and see the Sydney Harbor Bridge. And did you know Luna Park is right next to the bridge! Only fans of the movie Our Lips Are Sealed would be thrilled about seeing that!

I spent lots of my time walking around just checking out the city. I was able to make it to mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral which was so stunning! And on my last day I walked over to Chinatown! That area is something one could never forget. The prices were cheap and I was able to finish all of my souvenir shopping!

All-in-all it was a fantastic week of traveling and now it’s time to hit the books to rap up exam week!!

To study or to travel.. that is the question

The semester here at bond has finally came to an end as we head into exam week. This past week I took time out to do some last minute traveling.

I had the opportunity to sail on the Great Barrier Reef and see the Whitsunday Islands. It was incredible to say the least. The tour included sailing on a catamaran boat with 30 other people from all over the world. I had the chance to meet people from Sweden, France, England, and Norway! Pictures don’t do the trip justice. I got to swim with sea turtles and see Whithaven Beach (which really looks like the postcards)!

However, on our return back to the main land it similar to the movie the Perfect Storm with George Clooney? Unfortunately, numerous people were getting sick and I was starting to wonder if we’d ever make it back safely! But other than that the trip was a total success and is something I’ll never forget!

Sunshine fun*

There is finally sun again on the Gold Coast and I couldn’t be happier to spend my last month here basking in the sunshine! Last weekend was my trip to skydive in Byron Bay and it was incredible! It was like nothing I’d ever experienced before and I can’t wait until I get the chance to do it again.

This week is full of homework, projects, and presentations to be completed as we’re heading into week 11, only one more week of classes to go! It’s all come so fast. My birthday is next week and my roommate and I have a day of fun girly activities planned for the day.

2 Weeks until the Whitsundays and Sydney…

One month from today I’ll be on my way back to good ole Chazy!!!

The Girls on the Grand Sea

Albany, AU was a funny little place to stop.  On the Southwestern shore of Australia, it is a friendly Victorian town.  It was founded in 1827 as a military outpost.  It is actually the oldest permanently settled town in Western Australia.  Known for whaling and it’s military base, it also has substantial natural beauty.

Most of our group went out to the Torndirrup National Park where they hiked to an isolated beach.

From there, the hike lead to the Natural Bridge.

Everyone could also see the Gap, where waves rush in and out with tremendous force.

While everyone else was hiking, Amanda ran the Bibbulmun Track.  The Track is “one of the world’s great long distance walk trails, stretching nearly 1000km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills, to Albany on the south coast, winding through the heart of the scenic South West of Western Australia.

Monsoon Season

The rain has finally stopped and there is sun again on the Gold Coast. But it isn’t going to last long as there is a cyclone bearing down on us again! One week from today I’ll be jumping out of a plane and I couldn’t be more nervous! 

Rachel (my roommate) and I got tattoos this week. I got Wanderlust tattooed on my side. It means having the desire to travel the world. I had to get something to remember my time here right?! 

After I get back from the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef next month I’ll be leaving to head down to Sydney for a few days before I head back to the States! Hopefully the weather clears up so it’s not a soggy trip. 

Classes are officially at their worst. Midterms have passed and now it’s down to the grind which means I should probably get back to paper I was working on!

Rainy Weather

A ton has happened since I’ve posted last but I can’t say I’ve been busy. The weather has been absolutely awful. I’ve talked to a few Australian’s and they said it hasn’t been this rainy in forever! I’d say were on day 6 of straight rain 😦 

But last weekend I made it Moreton Island. It’s the third largest sand island in the world! I went camping (and I mean full on roughing it), I snorkeled around a few ship wrecks and saw some awesome fish and two sharks! Sharks, I know! I climbed Mount Tempest and saw Cape Moreton. It was all unbelievable! 

Yesterday I bought my ticket to go sky diving in Byron Bay! I can’t believe I’m finally going to do it. 

This awful weather is making it a little bit harder to be away from home just because it’s so hard to keep busy when you don’t want to leave the apartment. 

But until later, pray for me when I jump out of the plane in two weeks!
